FREE CAR
Okay, I’m not giving away a free car, though you will find my 1966 Mustang in attendance. I’ll also be there, signing copies of all my books! And one of those books, Stephen Must Die, happens to have a short story within it entitled: FREE CAR.
Maybe this little snippet from that story will rev you up:
The next morning, the Mustang’s dual exhaust reverberated through the quiet Los Angeles neighborhood on Oakwood Street. Marc parked in front of a faded yellow ranch home and shut the engine down. After he’d ensured the car’s interior was clean and uncluttered, he patted the urn and got out. A chill coursed through him as he passed the white picket gate. He took a steadyin`g breath before heading up to the front door and ringing the bell.
A moment later, a petite, middle-aged black woman looked through the screen door. “May I help you?”
“Mrs. Jackson?”
“Excuse me, but do I know you?”
“I’m sorry to bother you, ma’am. My name is Marc Richards. I’ve travelled a long way to see your son, Sergeant Jackson. Is he home?”
Curious? If so, come on over to Boscawen Saturday afternoon find out what it’s all about!
Until then, whatever you are, travel safe and be a good one!
