That First Spark

I was a poet and didn’t even know it!

Good morning! Today, let’s continue our journey of sharing. I’m going to reveal some of my earliest examples of writing prowess, when I first felt that spark of inspiration, of creativity, of imagination.

“When I met spring” seems like an appropriate place to start, given the season, though it’s not my earliest recorded evidence of literary genius. That honor resides with such classics as the tale of “King Big Wig” you see here.

Not many know that in Olde English, “owned” was spelled “onde.” Man, I was ahead of my time! 😉

Genius, right? Hey, at least I spelled my name correctly! With auspicious beginnings like this, it’s no wonder I gravitated toward a writing career, albeit several jobs and a long career later. That spark has always been smoldering, waiting for its chance to burst into flames.

What about you? Did you discover a lifelong passion at a young age, or has that first spark been patiently waiting for you to breathe life into it? C’mon, share away! Hey, if I can lay bare some of my embarrassing beginnings, so can you. We’re all family here, after all. And if you need more encouragement, check out one more example of my prepubescent ponderings here:

You’ll note my stylish “The end” tagline, a sure sign of prodigious creativity.

Wait. is that my cell phone buzzing with a call from Columbia University, letting me know I’m on the short list for the Pulitzer Prize in literature? Nah, probably just spam about my car’s warranty.

Anyway, that’s all I can stand to share with you fine folks today. I hope this has entertained you, but more importantly, motivated you to seek out your own passions in your life’s journey. There’s never a better time than now to start, so let’s get it done, people!

And remember, whatever you are, King Big Wig, be a good one!
