Topic Du Jour
Happy first Wednesday of March, folks! Just when I thought I had no interesting topic to write about this week, I looked at the calendar to see when Daylight Savings Time would be robbing us of an extra hour of sleep this year. This led me down an entertaining rabbit hole of unofficial “national” holidays, and voila! Topic chosen.
Let’s begin with March 1st, or as I shall now forever know it, Dadgum That’s Good Day. While this was created by a BBQ smoker manufacturer, it’s a day when we can all celebrate eating all the foods we consider, well, dadgum good, of course 😊 Go get your food on, people!
Next, we fancy upon Dr. Seuss Day, celebrated on March 2nd each year. It’s all good if you celebrate in the ‘hood. Enjoy this day with purple hair, enjoy this day most anywhere. If you’ve somehow gotten the gist, let’s move onto the next day on our list.
The 3rd of March gets a bit more substantial, since we’ll raise our spoons to celebrate Soup It Forward Day. Try a hearty new concoction in this satisfying food group, and remember the oyster crackers!
Today is March 4th and Do Something Day. See what they did there? I really like this designation, since it not only holds a motivational message, it invites unique interpretation that suits each one of us. Well, what are you waiting for? Do something!
Speaking of each one of us, March 5th is Multiple Personality Day. Ummm, I think I’ll let you talk amongst yourselves here to decide how you’ll all celebrate this one.
Drilling further into the week finds us at Dentist’s Day for this coming Friday, the 6th. Sheesh, shouldn’t this day land on a Monday each year? Who wants to get strapped into the Dentist’s chair on a Friday? Probably 4 out of 5 dentists agreed with this choice, yet I digress. Look, just be a good patient and we’ll get you a cool superhero sticker!
This lands us at our final day for the first week of March: Sock Monkey Day. Think of the possibilities! You can Enjoy some BBQ or soup with your little buddy while you read Green Eggs and Ham together. Do something fun with your new pal, or perhaps build several monkeys and give each of them their own special traits. Be sure to hold your monkey’s hand and encourage them to be brave while the nice dentist checks out their little socky teeth. Yay! Such fun.
And that’s a wrap for us marching into this month like the proud lions we are. Like those fearsome felines, let’s take charge of our lives, then go out and make today the best dadgum day ever for someone else.
Remember, whatever you are, set your clocks forward this Sunday and be a good one!
